From Vision to Reinvention: The Genesis of Project Fénix
Every innovation begins with a question. Ours was simple: “What if we could reinvent the concept of flight for the modern world?” Not by retrofitting outdated systems or adapting old platforms to new purposes, but by reimagining the very essence of what an aircraft can be—starting from zero, with no compromises.
Our story began not in a hangar or boardroom, but during a time of global uncertainty. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the world at a standstill and our daily rhythms disrupted, a rare and valuable resource emerged: time. Time to reflect. Time to dream. Time to create. What began as a personal pursuit—a spark of curiosity during long days at home—quickly evolved into something greater: a full-fledged commitment to a new kind of aviation future.
It was during this period that the conceptual seed of Project Fénix was planted. And just like the legendary creature that inspired its name, it rose not from the ashes of failure, but from the quiet silence of contemplation, reborn as an idea that refused to settle for the ordinary.
Project Fénix: A Radical Leap in Electric Aviation
Project Fénix is not just another aircraft. It is a declaration. A technological and philosophical stance that challenges the conventional approaches to electric flight. In a world where many projects rely on retrofitting combustion-based designs with electric propulsion—often compromising performance, safety, and efficiency—we chose a different path. The hard path. The right path.
At its core, Project Fénix is an all-electric Formula 1 Air Racer, inspired by the fierce competition and raw performance of the famous Reno Air Races. These races, known for their adrenaline-fueled, low-altitude duels at breakneck speeds, represent the pinnacle of air racing. However, in that same arena of legacy and tradition, there is space—urgent need, even—for a new contender. One that brings sustainability, innovation, and performance together into a single, elegant solution.
A Design Born From First Principles
Where others retrofit, we reimagine. Fénix was designed from scratch, guided by aerodynamic principles, inspired by nature and bold engineering feats, and optimized for electric propulsion from the first line drawn. Its design is anything but conventional.
At first glance, what stands out is the forward-swept wing configuration, a choice that immediately calls to mind the groundbreaking X-29 experimental aircraft. This design isn’t just radical—it serves a purpose. The forward-swept wing allows for better maneuverability at low speeds, enhanced control, and reduced wingtip vortices. When paired with our proprietary airframe structure and carefully selected materials, the result is a lightweight yet rigid platform optimized for agility and efficiency.
The design also draws heavily from the innovative spirit of Burt Rutan, whose legacy of pushing the boundaries of aviation technology and aesthetics helped redefine what aircraft could look and perform like. That same spirit of rebellion and precision lives in every curve of the Fénix’s silhouette.
The aircraft’s laminar-flow wing profiles, inspired by the legendary P-51 Mustang, allow for significantly reduced drag, especially important when managing electric power with limited battery mass and density. Every surface of the Fénix has been sculpted with a specific aerodynamic function in mind—nothing is ornamental, and everything is intentional.
Engineering for the Future
The Fénix is a single-seat aircraft, built to carry only its pilot—and its purpose. Inside the cockpit, ergonomics and visibility are optimized for high-speed racing conditions. And because performance means little without safety, the aircraft will also incorporate a ballistic recovery parachute system, providing an added layer of protection in emergency scenarios—a rare feature in racing aircraft, but one we consider essential.
But this isn’t where Fénix ends. This is only the beginning.
The purpose of Fénix is twofold: first, to serve as a competitive, electrified Formula 1 Air Racer capable of turning heads and setting records. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it will function as a flying testbed—a platform of experimentation and iteration for future, larger-scale electric aircraft.
The learnings, data, and insights generated from the Fénix project will feed directly into our next generation of aircraft, enabling the scaling of electric aviation technology into more complex, longer-range, and commercially viable platforms.
Why It Matters
We believe that aviation must evolve. Not in incremental steps, but in daring leaps. The environmental impact of conventional aviation, the inefficiencies of legacy design, and the urgency of climate change all demand a shift in how we think about flying. Fénix is our answer to that challenge.
This project is not only about speed and style—though it certainly has both. It is about responsibility, reinvention, and revolution. It’s about showing that it’s possible to create aircraft that are high-performing, visually striking, and environmentally conscious, without settling or sacrificing.
And most importantly, it’s about inspiration.
